Welcome (back), Diego!

It's official: Real Madrid have signed Sevilla (and former RM youth team) goalkeeper, Diego López for 3.5 million euros. The 31-year old is chiefly known for his five years in Villarreal, during which time he made 171 appearances. He moved to Sevilla after Villarreal's relegation last season and has made 8 appearances so far this season.

(Wow, Iker's balding started young.)
Diego spent 7 years with Real Madrid, serving as Iker's backup keeper for two seasons. In the 05/06 season, Iker was sent off against Osasuna and Diego made his first team debut. (Sounds familiar, right?)

Welcome, Diego!

(I know, still waiting on the Comunicado Oficial from mothership. But it was reported on RMTV, so it's as official as it gets.)

Mothership approved! Deal is until the 2016/17 season.

In an interview with EFE earlier today, Diego said: "It is a dream to return home. Negotiations accelerated this evening...I am very happy to return to what consider to be my home. For a Madridista like me, to return to Real Madrid is the greatest thing that could happen to me in my career. I cannot wait to begin this great challenge."

(Shirtless Sergio thanks you for your time.)
